Reviews
Can't say enough about David Busch and his camera books. I bought the G16 as my new "walk around" camera (getting tired of dragging along my Canon 40D with several lenses while on hikes and cruises), and it's a godsend. This little camera has as many features as my larger format DSLR (yes, it really does) and the quality of photos is excellent. I can't tell the difference, even when blowing them up on a large computer screen. This book by David Busch unlocks all the secrets of the G16. Much of this camera's "horsepower" is contained within various menu settings, which I had not discovered by just trial and error, until I began reading this book. Busch's writing style is clear and concise, and he and the editors have made excellent use of color photo illustrations throughout. Not only will a photo show you what a menu setting will look like, but he'll also show you how different settings affect the final photo. There are many examples like that which make this book a "must have" for me. I take it along on all our long trips now, and learn something new every trip.UPDATE: Have now shot day and night scenes (with excellent guidance in the book), fireworks at night, "macro" closeups of flowers and insects...all the things that my big DSLR camera can do (providing you change a few lenses). But with the author's guidance, all of these challenging shots are clearly within the capability of this camera. I would never have discovered all this without the guidance contained within the book.Highly recommended.
